Self-Study vs. Live CPE: Which Should You Choose?

Live CPE

Live programs — including webinars — happen in real time. You can ask questions, interact, and the format satisfies the "group internet-based" delivery method many boards prefer.

• Best for: staying current, ethics, complex updates
• Pros: interactive, engaging, often counts cleanly
• Cons: you have to show up at a set time

Self-study CPE

Self-study lets you learn on your own schedule, usually with a final exam to earn credit.

• Best for: flexible, on-demand learning
• Pros: do it anytime, pause and resume
• Cons: less interactive; some boards cap self-study hours
