CPE Basics

How CPE credits work

A quick, plain-English guide to continuing professional education — what it is, how you earn it, and what to expect from our webinars.

What is CPE?

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is the ongoing learning CPAs complete to maintain their license. Most states require a set number of credit hours per reporting period, including a portion in ethics. Requirements vary by state — look up your state's CPA CPE requirements and always confirm with your state board of accountancy.

  2. 2

    Attend live and participate

CPE for group-internet-based programs requires live attendance. Plan to stay for the full session and respond to engagement checks.

  3. 3

    Earn your credit

    Credits are measured in 50-minute increments. A 50-minute session is 1 credit; a 100-minute session is 2.

A note on accreditation

CPE Society is building toward formal NASBA sponsorship. Until that is in place, sessions are offered for educational value and may not yet count as NASBA-registered credit in every jurisdiction. We'll clearly mark each webinar's credit status, and you should confirm acceptance with your state board.
